The Garden

The Cross Keys sits perfectly poised for countryside wandering, with excellent circular walks starting from the doorstep and the kind of views that remind you why you ventured out here in the first place. The pub opens onto a generous decked garden area—a genuine spot to settle with a pint of cask ale, though the landlord’s evident warmth means you’re just as welcome to duck inside to the characterful low-beamed bar when the weather turns. This is the sort of place where walkers naturally gather before and after their rambles, where the landlord knows the local paths as well as he knows his regulars, and where a Sunday roast tastes all the better for being earned by a morning on your feet across the fields.
